Before the blast, there was the marshmallow. Kidd's Co. was a marshmallow and candy manufacturer operating just down the road from the PEPCON plant in Henderson, Nevada. When the ammonium perchlorate ignited on May 4, 1988, Kidd's went up too — taking the sweet smell of the Mojave with it.
